Vauxhall Station Improvement Works

Network Rail have written to us councillors to inform us that, as part of our plans to reduce congestion at Vauxhall station, they will be carrying out works around the station at on selected dates throughout 2017 and 2018.

These improvement works are part of a wider programme to increase capacity into London Waterloo station and as part of this programme works are required at Vauxhall station to reduce congestion during peak periods; particularly around platforms 7 and 8.

The proposed solution involves the construction of a new lift and stair access to these platforms. Construction works will be divided between the platform and concourse levels and are programmed to begin from February 2017. Works at platform level will require the temporary closure of the lift to platforms 7 and 8, followed by the temporary closure of platforms 7 and 8 at times during the summer. Both entrances to the station will remain open.

Network Rail will shortly be contacting neighbours to inform them of these works, and will advise how they will be working to minimise impact on the local community and commuters. We have been told the programme will require some night time and weekend work, including some noisy activities.
