After years of campaigning to improve Vauxhall Cross and remove the gyratory, TfL are consulting on proposals for improving Vauxhall Cross and getting rid of the gyratory until 2nd January.
Leaflets should be coming (or have already come) through your door if you live in the area, you can find some at local libraries and GP’s - we would urge everyone to get involved and let your voices be heard.
Pretty much everyone we speak to who lives or works in this area agrees that Vauxhall deserves a better town centre rather than a dangerous motorway running around a good transport interchange – people want a more pleasant public realm, a safer place for cyclists and more shops for lunchtime or after work, as well as opportunities for new local shops to start up. Of course the transport interchange will stay but we want to make sure that people have a reason to visit and stay in Vauxhall as well!
Transport for London are committed to keeping the bus stops clustered together which is a really positive step and the Council is committed to ensuring that local residents and businesses get a say in how the detail and design is worked out over the next year.
